MOTORISTS who regularly use the M25 must brace themselves for months, possibly years of speed restrictions and contra flows while widening work takes place.
The widening of the captital's orbital motorway is to start at Gerrards Cross in April 2009, the Government has said.
Contractors Connect Plus are to start with the section between junctions 16 and 17, before moving to the section between junctions 17 and 18.

THE FORMER Packhorse Pub in Gerrards Cross is to re-open as a restaurant called Wildwood in September.
Selling Mediterranean style food, its menu will include pizza, pasta, steak and salads.
The restaurant, on Packhorse Road, will be the first in a chain of Wildwood restaurants and is owned by Took Us A Long Time which runs the DimT restaurants in London.
Chrissie Hopkins, of Took Us A Long Time, said: "It will very child friendly with a kids' menu and colouring activities. The decor will be modern, light and airy with lots of pale wood. It should be great."

GERRARDS Cross pupils excellend once again in their GCSE exams.
Girls from St Mary's School, in Packhorse Road, achieved a 96 per cent pass rate with 80 per cent of grades being A*, A, or B, with 20 per cent of the girls achieved eight or more A* or A grades.
German again scored highly with all the girls getting A or A* grades and music matched that performance with no pupils taking the class getting a grade below an A.
Headmistress Fanny Balcombe said: "It is very pleasing to see the girls achieve the rewards for all the hard work they have put in over the last few years."

Gerrards Cross-based Fiona Castle, widow of the late entertainer Roy Castle, will open the Cancer Research Relay for Life event on Saturday August 30 at the Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth starting at 2pm.
