Property vultures will have to wait
By Polly Manser
Vultures hoping to snap up former City workers' houses in Gerrards Cross at bargain prices due to redundancies will be disappointed, according to estate agent Trevor Kent.
Mr Kent, who is acquainted with several City people in the village who've lost their jobs in recent weeks, said that in most cases they're confident that they'll be re-employed in other areas of the City long before they run out of money to pay their mortgages.
He said: "Of course there is a lot of worry and concern, but mostly people have lived here for a long time and their mortgages are low. They're confident of getting another job, and although they will be on lower salaries and with lower bonuses, the vulture buyers who are watching over Gerrards Cross will have to wait a little while yet."
Estate agents in Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield contacted by the Advertiser said there had been no rush by former City workers to put their houses on the market.
