Residents help make way for speed limit measures

A flashing sign to remind motorists to drive at 30 miles per hour along the main road through Gerrards Cross is being pushed for by Gerrards Cross Parish Council.

Chris Brown said the vehicle activated sign - which would flash when motorists exceed the speed limit - would be placed near St Mary's School on Packhorse Road to slow down motorists approaching the town from Chalfont St Peter.

Cllr Brown said: "If you drive at 30 miles per hour along that stretch at the moment you find that there's always somebody on your bumper, or people even overtake you. A girl was hit on that road before the summer, and residents have been complaining that it's very difficult to cross the road."

The Parish Council is waiting for a decision from Buckinghamshire County Council.
Cllr Brown said the parish council may also push later for vehicle activated signs on Bull Lane, Bulstrode Way, and Mill Lane, which are all "notorious places for speeding."

It is currently negotiating with residents of Bull Lane and Buckinghamshire County Council to get foliage cut back in Bull Lane as this has greatly narrowed the road pushing traffic into the middle.

He said: "There have been a few accidents as people come out onto Layters Way."

Residents have agreed to share the cost of the work, and the parish council is now waiting for the county council to agree, and to send people out to do it.

We'd like to hear from you.

a flashing speed sign would be a good thing on the Fulmer Road just before the bend towards the Dukes Wood Avenue entrance as drivers exiting the Avenue turning left find vehicles tailgating them, even though it is a 30mph limit.

things that need to be said:

no one cares about flashing signs because they dont fine you! they will always be ignored until they can put 3points on your licence. the drivers in South Bucks are so aggressive there would need to be cameras on every road. speed cameras slow people down not light shows!!
