I think it is a disgrace that the lights have been turned out along that road. Why have lights there if they are not going to be turned on?
If Bucks county council want to save money they should lay off a few more staff, not turn out lights.
I'm very sorry for the family of the lady.

The appalling accident resulting in the death of Margaret Beeson was just waiting to happen.

Her friends and family must be very comforted to know that a minute fraction of carbon footprint was saved despite that Mrs Beeson lost her life.

Will BCC now have the sense to re-think their totally ludricous decision to make our roads even more dangerous than they already were and switch the lights back on before more people suffer the same fate?

Actually the accident happened at 5.35pm and not 2.35pm so it was in the dark! I past by just after it had obviously happened and before the police arrived. I also think it's a disgrace that the lights are not on down such a busy road as the A40. It's not fair on the pedestrians or the drivers that end up in a collision because the pedestrians just cannot be seen. How many more people are going to die before BCC turn the lights back on!

The turning off of the lights across the area are a disgrace, especially on busy roads like the A40 and A413, local people have been dreading an accident and now it has happened. The lack of lighting is especially difficult for the elderly (which has been proved), it will make them prisoners in there homes after dark. Many elderly people are still legally able to drive but there eyesight is not as good as it once was, tunring off lights on these roads makes it much more difficult for them. My sincere sympathy goes to the family of this lady, lets hope her death will not be the first of many. I would just like to enquire if the lights on public buildings are beeing turned off to save money, i.e. Chiltern District Offices of Bucks CC Offices or is it just the lives of the public that have to be put in danger.
