Gerrards Cross Waitrose plans withdrawn

Posted by Greg Burns on Jan 30, 09 09:00 AM in People

GX-Waitrose.jpgWaitrose has withdrawn its plans to build a supermarket in Gerrards Cross.
The application for the 13,500sq ft store, which would have been in Station Road, has been cancelled according to the planning section on South Bucks District Council's website.
Residents who live nearby to where the store was going to be built have received letters today informing them of the decision.
The reasons for withdrawal are not yet known, and it is uncertain whether developers Frontier Estates will reapply.
The plans had caused much controversy in Gerrards Cross, with many residents unhappy about the extra noise and traffic that a fourth supermarket in the village would have caused.
