Residents forced to gate-off street

Residents in Farnham Common have been forced to take a stand against vandalism outside their houses by putting up large gates to stop yobs from congregating there.
People who live in Langtons Meadow have suffered from yobs causing damage near their homes for a number of years, but thanks to a joint effort between police, the parish council and a housing association, the problem has now stopped.

Over the years, residents' lives have been made a misery due to a combination of vandalism, graffiti and other anti-social behaviour, but since the new gates have been put up, the problem has disappeared.
PCSO Caroline Sampson said: "We have been trying to sort this out for a very long time. Repairs were constantly having to be made to the area because of the continual vandalism that was occurring there and the residents were sick of it.
"In the end, the parish council were approached by L and Q Beacon housing association to see if we could put some permanent gates up in the area to stop the vandals from getting in, and it seems to have worked very well.
"All the residents in the area have been given a combination to lock the gates and as long as they remember to that, then they are the only ones who can get in. Since the gates were put up we have had no reports of any vandalism or anti-social behaviour in the area which would imply that the gates are doing their job, which I am very pleased about."
