Pinewood Studios basks in Oscar glory
Pinewood Studios was revelling in the Oscar limelight this week when two of its sound mixers picked up awards.
Ian Trapp and Richard Pryke won the Academy Award for their achievements working on the multi-award winning Slumdog Millionaire at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
This follows their recent success at the BAFTAs, where the team, who are based at the studios in Iver Heath, won another prize for its achievements on Danny Boyle's film.
Dennis Weinrich, Pinewood's managing director of post production, said: "Ian and Richard have been identified by their peers as being worthy of the academy award for sound-mixing for the film. We've been in Hollywood for over a week and everyone we have met has told us how much they like the picture and how much they think it marks Britain's position as a major destination for filmmaking."
Pinewood has only won two sound Oscars before; in 1963 for Lawrence of Arabia and in 1971 for Fiddler on the Roof.
