Swing allows all kids to enjoy playground
THE EASTER holidays are proving more fun than usual for two little girls after a swing with a difference was installed at a playground in Gerrards Cross.
Until now Charlotte, nine, who is severely disabled, has had to sit and watch while her younger sister Lucy, seven, enjoyed the swings at East Common.
But now, at the request of the girls' mother Jane Darley, Gerrards Cross Parish Council (GXPC) has installed a brand new swing that not only Charlotte can enjoy, but Lucy can enjoy with her.
Mrs Darley, of Fulmer Way, Gerrards Cross, said: "Charlotte loves it. She can't talk but when we put her in it she got very excited and was clapping frantically and lots of smiles. Before, Charlotte had to sit in the buggy, or else I sat on the swing and she sat on my lap.
"What's really fantastic is that the swing isn't just for disabled children. I was with some friends of Lucy's and they thought it looked fun too. It's very inclusive."
Laraine Campkin, of GCPC, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've been able to act to make sure that all children can enjoy the playground."
