Running route to be place in Gerrards Cross

TWO new running routes could soon be put in place around Gerrards Cross common.
At a meeting of Gerrards Cross parish council on Monday night, it was agreed to support the idea for two running routes around the common, one of 1,500 metres and the other of 1,000 metres.

The council proposed putting up a series of wooden sign posts around the common, which would direct people as to where the route goes.
Councillor Laraine Campkin said: "There is a lot of demand for a good running route around the common. It is very well used by joggers, and it would add another feature to the common if there was a proper route for runners to use.
"If these signs were to be put in place, people would be able to know exactly how far they were going on their daily run, and it would make the common a more attractive place for them.
"The signs we would put in place would have a rustic feel to them and would not be out of place with the rest of the common.
"When we went out to the common to plan the routes, we saw a large number of joggers there in the space of an hour, so it is clearly very popular already, and this would add to it."
It is thought that the route would make an ideal practice track for people taking part in the bi-annual Gerrards Cross fun run, and would encourage more people to get involved with the event.
Councillor Peter Chapman said: "It is important to remember that this is a running route and not a track. We are just going to be using these signs to direct people around the common and to help them plan out a proper length run around the common."
