Gerrards Cross councillor reacts to high speed rail news

Posted by Polly Manser on Aug 13, 09 12:33 AM in People

PETER Chapman, vice chairman of Gerrards Cross Parish Council, said he doubted that the Chiltern Line would be used for high speed rail in South Bucks.

He said: "I think it's unlikely to be tangled up with commuter lines because the purpose of the high speeed rail would be for people who currently fly, and if it's not fast enough it won't meet that objective."
He added: "This will not get approval through the planning process like Tesco or the motorway service station, it will require a bill or an act of Parliament, and the role of our MP is going to be crucial."
