Gang breaks into homes and steals cars keys while owners sleep

Four cars have been stolen in this way in the last week for the first time in and around Gerrards Cross.
Police believe the vehicles are destined for abroad to be sold on with new number plates and identification papers.
Two cars were taken in the last seven days from the Dukes Wood Estate in Gerrards Cross, one from Cherry Tree Road in Beaconsfield and, one from Evreham Road in Iver.
Detective Inspector Mark Lynch, who heads the CID team and priority crime teams in South Bucks, said police believe all four incidents are related.
He said: "There are different ways this happens. Either they use a fishing rod through the letter box and pick up keys that are left in the hall. Occasionally they break in, through a front door or a rear door, while the owners are asleep. It usually happens in the early hours. "
He said that the burglars, who usually have a "wish list," are after high value cars. He said: "They used to take high performance cars like Subarus to use in ram raids. Nowadays they go for BMWs, Audis and Range Rovers and they're being taken purely to be sold on. The suspicion is that they are being shipped out of the county. This is organised crime on a national scale."
He said there is little danger to the victims, because the burglars want to be in and out as quickly as possible, and that in very few instances is there ever confrontation.
He said thefts of this type had not happened "for some time" in South Bucks. Burglary is down 17 per cent this year and theft of motor vehicles down 39 per cent.
Thames Valley Police is putting extra resources into tackling burglary with Operation Breaker which includes increased patrols in burglary hot spots.
So far this year there have been 235 burglaries in South Bucks compared to 291 in the same period last year.
