New book honours war dead

A NEW book has been published detailing soldiers from Fulmer who gave their lives during the two world wars.
Fulmer's Fallen has been written by Edward Guinness and Kenneth Peters and tells the story of all the 19 men commemorated on the war memorials in St James' Church in Fulmer village.

Readers can learn about each man, his family background, the battles in which he fought and how and where he died.
The book is illustrated with a number of photographs, including many of how Fulmer was in the early part of the 20th century.
Mr Guinness said: "In this year which has recorded the deaths of Harry Patch and Henry Allingham, the last survivors of the First World War, Fulmer's Fallen is our tribute to those who were Fulmer villagers like ourselves, but who surrendered their tomorrows for our todays in two bloody world conflicts.
"It is right that we remember them with a grateful consciousness of their sacrifice and it is our hop that through the pages of the book that remembrance will be the more meaningful."
The book was launched at a special reception hosted by Fulmer parish council with more than 100 people in attendance.
All proceeds from the book are going to the British Legion, and copies can be bought by sending a cheque for £8.50 to Edward Guinness at Huyton Fold, Fulmer Village, Buckinghamshire, SL3 6HD or by calling 01753 662995.
