Homes hit by power failure

HOMES across South Bucks have been hit by a number of power cuts this week, during some of the coldest weather of the year.
Residents of Fulmer and Chalfont St Peter were hit by the problems, leaving them with no electricity and heating as temperatures plummeted.

On Sunday, people living in Fulmer were left without power for most of the day after electricity went off on Saturday night.
It did not come back on again until around 4.30pm, which angered villagers.
On Monday night, which saw the first frost of the winter appear on the ground, people living in the Chalfont Common area of Chalfont St Peter were left without heating after power supplies to homes were cut off.
The power initially went off at around 1.45pm on Monday afternoon and did not come back on again until 3.45am the following morning.
One resident said: "It was ridiculous. It was one of the coldest nights of the year so far and we had to spend the evening sat in the dark with no heating. I can't understand why it took so long for it to come back on.
"It was a horrible experience. People were getting out candles to give themselves some light, but there's a very limited amount of light that comes off a candle.
"It was freezing cold as well. When something like this happens, it should be sorted out quickly, but in this case it took nearly 12 hours. I can't understand why we were forced to live in these conditions for such a long time.
"So far, we have not had any answers as to why this happened. None of my neighbours have got any idea at all."

We'd like to hear from you.
