Fund raiser to stop off in village

A SPECIAL needs teacher will be stopping off in Gerrards Cross in a bid to visit every RSPB nature reserve in the country.
Gary Prescott, 53, has taken on the challenge of cycling across the UK to raise money for the bird charity, as well as Asthma UK and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust.

The trip will amount to around 5,000 miles of travelling and Mr Prescott is expecting it to take him the majority of 2010.
On breaks from cycling, he is set to visit schools around the country to spread the message about climate change and encourage youngsters to do their bit to combat it.
He set off from a nature reserve near Birmingham on New Year's Day and is set to visit the Church Wood reserve in Gerrards Cross within the next week.
After that, he will be heading towards London to visit nature reserves in that area.
He said: "The day I decided to complete this project to cycle to every single RSPB nature reserve was much like any other.
"I was commuting, and I'd rather have been bird watching. From a simple desire to do more of that, I am now ready to set off on what I hope will be a life changing experience.
"I would like people to think about what they are going to do help prevent climate change and donate money to the charities I'll be representing on my journey."
Mr Prescott hopes to finish the journey in Bedfordshire at the end of the year, and if he does so he will be the first person to visit ever RSPB site in the country.
