Fun Run to make a return to Gerrards Cross
A HUGELY popular community sports event is set to make a return to Gerrards Cross this years.
The bi-annual Gerrards Cross will take place on Sunday, May 23, and organisers are hoping to attract another big turnout.
The five kilometre race is expected to attract around 1,500 runners, from the serious competitor to those just wanting to take part, from all age groups.
Carol Evans, one of the event's organisers, said: "It should be a great event and things are shaping up really well.
"We're supporting two fantastic charities this year, which are Kids in Sport, who we are supporting for the first time ever and the Sunrise Cancer Unit at Wycombe General Hospital.
"Kids in Sport helps children to take part in sport who wouldn't normally be able to do so, and the Sunrise Cancer Unit provides support for people undergoing chemotherapy.
"We're all really looking forward to the event and hope as many people as possible take part."
The five kilometre run takes participants through a large section of Gerrards Cross.
It starts at the Memorial Centre in East Common at 11am, and sees runners travelling along roads including Marsham Lane, Oak End Way, Mill Lane and Hill Waye, before finishing at the common.
As well as the race, there will also be a host of activities and attractions, including stilt walkers, bouncy castles, a coconut shy and a raffle, as well as hot food and drinks and a bar.
Applications for the race have not yet opened, but are details will appear this month, so those wanting to take should visit www.gxfunrun.co.uk.
