Speaking contest for youngsters held

A PUBLIC speaking competition for youngsters has been held in Gerrards Cross.
The Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter organised the event, which was held at St Mary's School in Packhorse Road on January 29.

Schools from across the area came to take part in the contest, which aims to give young people the experience of speaking in public and to encourage them to formulate their ideas on specific topics.
The winning team was from Thorpe House School, who gave a presentation on chocolate, entitled A Dark Side.
They will now go on to the district finals on February 11 in Marlow.
Thomas Bevan of the team was also judged to be an outstanding speaker, and was presented with a trophy for his achievements.

We'd like to hear from you.
