Travelling story teller visits Denham
YOUNGSTERS in Denham learned the art of telling stories when an author paid a visit to their school.
Last week was National Story Telling Week and on Wednesday, Richard O'Neill, an author and story teller from the travelling community came along to Tilehouse School in Denham to talk to the children there.
He gave a special assembly to the children and their parents and told them what makes a good story and how to make it interesting, and then later held workshops with the youngsters to give them a chance to stand up and tell their own tales.
Debbie Smith, a staff governor at the school in Nightingale Way, said: "It was a great experience for all the children here.
"They really enjoyed themselves and it was a different way of learning for them.
"Mr O'Neill told them about how to use vocal tones to make the story come alive and how to give each character a different voice to make it more engaging for the audience.
"They all loved it and it was a fantastic day for them all."
