Plans for Gerrards Cross Classic Car show

BIG crowds are expected for a village event which is quickly becoming one of the most popular in its calendar.

The Gerrards Cross Classic Car Show, which takes place at the Memorial Centre in East Common, was launched in 2009 and in that time has gone on to attract more and more people each year.

It is organised jointly by the Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter, and the Abbeyfield Gerrards Cross Society, who provide housing for older people in the village.

Owners of vehicles built before 1985 are invited to bring their cars along to the show in the grounds of the Memorial Centre.

Suzie Bower, of the Gerrards Cross Community Association, said: "It should be a great day. It has become more and more popular since it was first launched, and we should get a really good variety of cars here on the day.

"It is going to be held after the Olympics, so it is something else to look forward to in Gerrards Cross this summer."

It is anticipated that among the entries this year will be cars including MGs, Morgans, Rolls Royce, Jaguars and Bentleys.

There will also be motorbikes including Harley Davidsons and Triumphs.

Mrs Bower added: "This is a gathering for the whole family, and people will be able to see what their parents and grandparents used to drive.

"They will also be able to talk to the proud owners who will be very happy to provide the history of their treasures."

The event takes place on Wednesday, August 22 and starts at 2pm, with adult entry costing £1 and children under 14 going free.

If you would like to enter a vehicle into the show, you can do so by visiting www.gxca.org.uk, or by calling 07790 928 535.

The closing date for entries is August 10.
