Lucy Cork went to meet some of Wexham Park Hospital's smallest patients and the professionals who work to save their lives.

Giving birth should be the most natural thing in the world for a woman. But for some new parents it can be a scary and traumatic time.

Pat Lawson is a senior sister at Wexham Park Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). She has worked there for 14 years and on the day we meet, she is, fittingly, working a 14-hour shift.

I started at 7am. It's going to be a long day today, she said with a smile.

THE first participants in a new health and well being initiative for gypsies and travellers in South Bucks have completed the first stage of their training.
Six women from traveller communities will become health advocates for the traveller sites of Iver, Wapseys Wood, Dudley Wharf and Mansion Lane.

A NEW running club being launched in Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross is being supported by an ex-Olympic athlete.
Run 4 Life has received the backing of Denise Lewis and aims to encourage adults, children and families to lead active and healthy lives.

YOUNG people are being targeted by health professionals in Bucks in a campaign to get screened for sexual health infection chlamydia.
A new postal self-test kit is set to become available soon, which people can order confidentially online. Including a prepaid envelope to return the test, the results are available by text or phone within 10 working days.
The initiative, which is part of a national clampdown, is being incorporated into NHS Buckinghamshire's 'More than a Hug' project which highlights the potential infertility that can be caused if the condition is left untreated.

FINANCIAL management of healthcare in Buckinghamshire is "weak" according to a report by the Care Quality Commission yesterday.

THE MAN responsible for running Wexham Park Hospital has resigned following a clash with the health watchdog Monitor.
